Fiberglass vs. Mineral Wool

Fiberglass batts are the standard — affordable, widely available, and easy to install. Mineral wool (rock wool) costs more but offers better fire resistance, sound dampening, and moisture resistance. For most attic and wall applications, fiberglass is fine. For party walls, crawl spaces, or anywhere with moisture risk, consider mineral wool.

What R-Value Do You Need?

R-value measures resistance to heat flow. Higher = better insulation. Attics need the most: R-38 in most of the US, R-49 in cold climates. Exterior walls need R-13 to R-21 depending on stud depth (2x4 vs 2x6). Floors need R-19 to R-30.

How Much to Order

Measure your square footage, then use the coverage table on the bag. One bag of R-38 covers about 40 sq ft. A 1,500 sq ft attic needs roughly 37–40 bags. Over-order by 10% to account for waste and cuts. We can help you calculate when you call.

Buying at Wholesale

Retail home improvement stores sell insulation in small quantities at retail markup. Wholesale suppliers like us sell in full pallets at contractor pricing — open to homeowners too. For any job over 20 bags, buying wholesale saves real money.

Delivery vs. Hauling Yourself

Insulation is bulky. A full pallet of R-38 batts weighs 600–800 lbs and takes up significant truck space. Delivery to your jobsite is almost always the smarter option unless you own a large truck and enjoy the trip. We deliver to driveways, garages, and active job sites.
